This tripod vessel is from my “Daughter Warriors “ series. My daughters’ ancestry includes Mali, Africa, and I’ve dedicated this series to exploring their heritage through my pottery. Ahangbe was regent for her young nephew for a short time. But oral history suggests she established the Dahomey Mino, the fierce women warriors who became the personal guard to the king of Dahomey.
